Assignment Two

Assignment two is a group work. We were asked to come up with two mind maps. the first mind-map is generaly on the topic of ' Creative Multimedia'.

The second mind map is the one we choose to focus on. We choose the field of career and we focused on "Life Performance"

Then, we submitted an essay to the lecturer based on the title " The Future of Live Performance". We choose the title as our concept for final artwork.


After that, we were asked to choose a random word. The random word that we choose is 'Drum'. So we elaborate random words from 'Drum'.

We are five in the group. So we were asked to submit 50 skecthes before the final artwork. Here is the ten sketches of mine:

From the 50 sketches, we have to choose the best one individualy.

 Here is the the sketch of my other group members.

After that we combined our ideas to produce a final artwork.

Random Words / Image Association

Random words is a method to generate new ideas.

 There are three steps that we have to follow:

1. First, we have to write down any problem that comes in our mind..

2. Then we have to relate each random word of the problems you we wrote..

3.  Finaly we have to apply the random words to find a solution to solve our problems.

Example problem : 

How to overcome stress when creative studies students given assignments?

Random Words : Durian

From the word ' Durian ' we have to elaborate words that relates durian.

The words are :

1. Thorns

2. Smell                           

3.Famous 

 Then, using the word "Thorns" we relate it with the problem:

1.  Thorns : We have accept the pain of thorns on Durian if we want to have tthe taste of the flesh inside. 

In practice : Students must accept and try to overcome the stress to success in their assignments.

2. Smell : Some people like the smell of the durian but some people didnt.

In practice:  Students must know how to change their stress in positive way.

3. Famous : Durian is a famous fruit among Malaysians for its taste. 

  In practice : To become famous students have practice themselves to be cool and think wisely to finish their   assignments .

This is the method to solve a problem creatively. If we able to understand how to use this method. it will be easy for us to solve any problem.

We were asked to create a scary image that will be still fear as today over the decades. The image which was given to us is a picture of a Kitten. .

Juxtaposition - What is Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition. What is Juxtaposition. First, we take a look at what is mean by Juxtaposition at online dictionary.
It is stated that, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

Juxtaposition is also known as collocation, juxtaposing, juxtapose.

Exercise in Class :

1. We were given an A3 paper. We do all the exercise in the paper given.

2. First we were given 20 words, and we have to choose two three pairs of words randomly.

My number pairs that match the words are :

21 : ligthning water

36 : ice spider

18 : Flower wood

Then we were asked o create a phrase that relates the two words.

We draw pictures to visualize our sentences.

Then we have to draw drawing that visualize the two word together.

How merges go wrong ?

 We were asked to merge 2 animal  into a new form of animal which is impossible to survive.

First i have a sketch of what i am going to do.

Goat + Butterfly.

Goat merge with with butterfly, its makes the combination impossible to survive on earth because the goat has no legs and the wings could not support the load

Mortar And Pestle

A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix solid substances (trituration). The pestle is a heavy bat-shaped object, the end of which is used for crushing and grinding. The mortar is a bowl, typically made of hard wood, ceramic or stone. The substance to be ground is placed in the mortar and ground, crushed or mixed with the pestle.

How to use a mortar and pestle
· Place the food in the mortar (bowl) in small quantities;
· Use some downward pressure over the food with the pestle (pounder);
· With hard foodstuffs, like peppercorns and even pills, move the pestle back and forth over it with some pressure until it breaks up;
· Turn the pestle in a circular motion around the mortar, maneuvering it back and forth with a bit of pressure over still unbroken pieces.
It doesn't take long to get used to using a mortar and pestle.

Novelty - Its new

Novelty. How can we define novelty. Well, according to web definitions, novelty means, an invention must be "novel," in order to qualify for a patent.This means that the invention should not have been available to public earlier. Something that we invent must be our own idea which has been undiscovered before. Novelty is best to be related with our originality .  Thomas edison's work shows novelty. Da Vincci's ideas brings novelty in his works. There are many more such as Mahatma Gandhi who came up with new way to fight agains violance.
So as Bill Gates.

Gates creates Microsoft. His creation was original. He made something new. And the important thing is, his creation was acceptable by everyone. Its usable. It has a marketing value. Just novelty isnt enough for an invention. Its needs economical value to make it success. Gates's work made acceptable because it has novelty. Any invention without novelty, it wont be recognized publically. As a conclusion, novelty meet economical value..then it will be a successfull invention.

Creative? what does it means...

Creative. What does it realy means? Well, according to common descriptions it means make something exist which doesnt exist before. Einstein, DaVancci, even Tun Mahathir said to be creative persons.There's another idea says that ' Only God can create'. Which means, human cant create. Human could not make something from nothing. Then why some people said to be creative. So, i was thinking of proper word to replace the word creativity. All the things in this world alredy exist a long long time ago. A flying object is exist in this world thousand years ago. A motor system goes the same. The combination of this two things makes a new invenion. So the tecjnology is alredy exist in different forms. but yet to be discovered. We did not create, we discover. so the proper word should be Discovery not Creativity.
